The Trinity River Corridor Project Photo Contest Rules
How to Enter Trinity River Photo Contest. Please read the following rules carefully.
Who
The City of Dallas Trinity River Photo Contest is open to all photographers of any age. Your entry to the contest constitutes your agreement to allow your photographs – and your name, city and state of residence – to be published as award winners or used on Web sites owned by The City of Dallas and sponsors for promotions for the Trinity River Corridor Project Entrants retain ownership to use of their photographs. The City of Dallas and sponsors shall have the right to verify, in their sole judgment, winner eligibility.
Divisons
Photographers must enter their images in one of the following divisions.
- Pro –photographers who receive all or a major part of their income from photography
- Amateur – Beginning or amateur photographers at least 18 years of age, and experienced photographers who do not receive a major part of their income from photography.
- Youth – Young photographers aged 17 or under.
Legal Conditions
By entering, participants warrant that his or her entry materials are original, do not infringe on any third party’s rights,
By entering, participants release and hold harmless the City of Dallas and sponsors from any liability.
If a recognizable person is in the photograph, a model release must be submitted with the entry and liability is limited to the value of prizes.
The City of Dallas may share your contact information with sponsors of the Trinity River Corridor Project Photo Contest.
All decisions by the Trinity River Photo Contest judges will be final and binding.
What
We are looking for striking images of wildlife, the forest, architecture/structures, and the river from areas within and along the Dallas Trinity River Corridor Project. This area encompasses I-35-North at Royal Lane to Hwy 175-S at I-20. Photos should be taken no more than 50 feet outside of the levees.
These images may show animal behavior, portraits of wildlife in natural habitat, plant life, natural landscapes, whether or people interacting with nature. Please do not include photographs of pets or domestic animals. Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.
All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, adjustments to color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified.
Categories
Photographers entering in the Pro, Amateur and Youth divisions may enter an image in one or more of
the following categories:
- Wildlife
- Forest
- River
- Architecture/Structures
When
Deadline for submitting entries is Sept 30, 2009, Online entries can be uploaded starting June 30, 2009 and must be uploaded no later than midnight September 30. Winners will be notified October 30, 2009
Why
A selection of winning photos will appear on City of Dallas and Trinity River Corridor Project and sponsor websites.
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to winning images in each category for the Pro, Amateur and Youth divisions for the following:
- Place winners 1,2,3 and honorable mentions at the judges discretion
Judges
A panel of photographers will judge the contest.
How
Each participant may submit up to 4 photographs. Entrants must designate the appropriate division in which all their images are to be judged. Photographers may enter all entries in a single category or select different categories as long as the total submission does not exceed 4 photographs. Participants can submit color or monochrome prints
(size 11”x 14”) or digital images.
Emailing Digital Photos
If you plan to email digital photos they can be emailed to us starting June 30, 2009 and must be emailed no later than midnight September 30. Please email only one (1) digital image per email and the size cannot exceed 4 MB. Please include photographer’s name, email address, category, division, location, date of photo and entry number (1-4) in the SUBJECT line of the email.
Mailing or Shipping Entries
Each photograph must bear the photographer’s name, address, phone number, email address (if applicable) category, division, location, date of photo and entry number (1-4). All prints must be sent together as one package. Also, include this information on a separate, single sheet of paper with the division you are entering.
Include a separate, self-addressed envelope (SASE) of the proper size with sufficient postage affixed, or entries will not be returned. Entries not retrieved will be destroyed after three months. The City of Dallas and sponsors are limited in liability to value of prizes. Disputes will be settled by binding arbitration.
