Dallas Wave

Whitewater for Dallas! The Dallas Wave and the Santa Fe Trestle Hike and Bike Trail will herald a new spirit and direction for recreation in Dallas. No longer will people be boxed in by their belief that Dallas is only a shopping Mecca; hundreds of people will plan weekend excursions to the river and the trails as a change of pace to experience the floodway and the entrance to the Great Trinity Forest.

The Dallas Wave features two boat launches, parking, scenic pathways, natural seating for spectators, a close up view of a natural outcropping of white chalk bank near the southern edge of the area on the west bank of the river. The two wave features provide whitewater for kayak enthusiasts and sport boaters. The area also includes a bypass channel for boat traffic not wanting to experience a touch of the wave action or boaters may pull out at the boat launch prior to the Dallas Wave and portage around the features. It is scheduled for completion in 2012.

In years ahead, there will be high flyin' action at the Dallas Wave with competitions and recreational kayakers enjoying the water throughout the year.
